How to Display Your Profile Picture in Google Search Results

For some time now Google has been displaying profile pictures of certain authors in the search results it returns.

I have had this happen to me for some time now and have decided to provide my tips on how you can have your profile picture displayed in Google search results.

  •  First you need to ensure you have a well set up Google+ Profile page
  •  Ensure you are using a clear headshot photo of yourself for your profile picture
  •  Ensure you link your Google+ Profile to your websites that you want to be seen as author of using the correct.
  •  Ensure you link back to your Google+ Profile using the correct rel=author tags
  •  Play an active part in Google+ and engage with other users
  •  Play an active part in other Google services whilst signed in to your Google account

The last point is what I consider the tipping stone for whether your picture is displayed in the Google results and why Google will chose to display your details.
