I have had a few people asking me who the singer is singing in the John Lewis Christmas Advert of 2011

To answer your question, it is Slow Moving Millie the performing name of English actress, singer and songwriter, Amelia Warner (Amelia Catherine Bennet).

The Track is an old The Smiths Classic Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want which was written by Morrissey and Johnny Marr and originally appeared on the B-side of their 1984 hit, William, It Was Really Nothing.

The track has been covered numerous times by numerous artists as well as in the soundtracks to the movies 500 Days of Summer and Pretty in Pink to name two.

Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want was also used in the Christmas finale of Extras by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant.

The Slow Moving Millie version of Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want was chosen for the 2011 John Lewis after receiving permission from Morrissey and Marr and is available for download on MP3 here – Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want
