We will assume that you have followed stage one of our Google Profiles optimisation tips and have now created your Google Profile. The next section talks about improving your Google Profile.

Advanced Tips on Improving your Google Profile

Please be logged in to your account, at your Profile and in edit mode before continuing.

IMPORTANT: remember evertyhing you put in your profile is visible, remember it isn't really the place for a business sales pitch, treat it for what it is a Profile of You.

Working from the top down

• If you haven't already added a profile image add one now - This will also integrate your profile account with a PicasaWeb account
• Create a PicasaWeb album and upload 4 images in to it, the more related to your business the better, but remembering what we said previously this is Your Profile
• Add the 4 images along the top of your profile page
• If you haven't already created an introduction yet do this now, note you can add links in here, we don't recommend you adding more than one, the key is it doesn't want to be too blatant and self promotional
• The next 4 edit boxes are obvious
• In places lived add a minimum of 2, ensure they are in the correct place on map
• Next 5 boxes are obvious
• Other Names Important box this one as it helps your profile get found when people are searching for you, for instance if you have regular nicnames you use online and don't mind being found by these nicknames add them here Important If you use nicknames you don't want associated with your Google Profile DO NOT ENTER THEM HERE
• Nickname box: similar to above but your one main nickname that you don't mind everyone knowing and finding you via
• Search Visibility - obvious
• Profile URL another important setting, pretty obvious but think well about it first first

With this done save the page by clicking done editing and check for mistakes before moving on to next stage.

Go back in to edit mode

• In the left panel you will see you can set to receive email, do this
• The information panel underneath is now editable (with information you provided in stage 1) It is up to you what you want to imput, but I recommend you add location
• On far right panel is the links section, very important
• The first link to add should be your most important using the correct anchor text, use Add Custom Link to do this
• You can now add more links, custom ones by following instructions above, socual networking ones by using Manage connected accounts
• Be careful when using Manage Connected Accounts only add the ones you want displayed in your Google profile
• Save all your links and test
• Click on Done Editing to save profile then check all is OK
